Empowering the Lebanese people by teaching them how to code

We are providing free access to programming courses for Lebanese citizens living in Lebanon.

Constant economic and political crises have diminished the opportunities available to Lebanese people.

The program will help our students develop new skills in order to increase their chances of building a better future for themselves and for the country.

Help us make a difference

Our Mission

Our first cohort is starting in December 2021 and will support 10 students aged 18+ years old. Each student will be assigned to a mentor that will schedule a weekly 1on1 to keep them on track and increase the chances of success. The students have 3 months to complete a basic set of classes.

The basic classes include: HTML, CSS, Javascript and Web Development. We believe that any student that will reach that target, will be set up for success to continue learning on their own and make it happen for themselves.

Our first cohort is already fully funded, thanks to the generosity of our first donor: Rami Issa.

Help us support the next 100 young Lebanese people and give them hope for their future!

Why are we doing this?

We are Lebanese and we are in tech. We believe we can make a difference for Lebanon by empowering the Lebanese people by teaching them coding. The country is in a bad spot, there's little we can do right now. We do what we know best.

Interested to help?

We are building a community of mentors to ensure our cohorts are setup for success. If you are interested to become a mentor please email us: hello@codingforlebanon.com

Mentors are assigned to 1 or 2 students and are required to setup a weekly 1on1 call to follow up on the progress and motivate them to reach the target.

Coding For Lebanon - December 2021 Program

  • Basic Course

Students are required to complete the basic course within three months. This means they have to learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Web Development. We provide them with online classes for 1 year to continue learning.

  • Codecademy x Coding For Lebanon

We partenered with Codecademy a company whose mission is to create a world where anyone can build something meaningful with technology, and everyone has the learning tools, resources, and opportunities to do so.

  • Laptops

We want to reduce friction and make sure the students are set up for success. We worked with a local partner to build a low cost laptop with decent specifications. We provide laptops to students who don’t have one.

  • Mentors

Each student is assigned to a mentor that will setup a weekly 1on1 to follow progress, keep them on track and help achieve their goals.

  • Live Support

We put together a team of developers that will be available for live support when students have technical questions. This will happen via Instant Messaging on Discord.

  • Completion

Upon completion of the courses, we partnered with companies in Montreal and around the globe to provide a paid internship to our students. Students will be able to work remotely to build real world experience and get hired full time after their internship.
